Manicure/Pedicure

Over the past week I have done a few manicures & pedicures at home. I did one french pedicure with diamonte finish & 2 pedicureswith crackle nail varnish finish. I was very pleased with the results & so were my friends & family.

This afternoon I did my second french manicure & was very pleased with it. I really enjoyed doing the treatment and look forward to getting more practice. We also did a demo set up for waxing as next week we are getting assessed on assist the therapist for waxing. I am quite confident that it will go well.

Final summative facial assessments

Today I did 2 summative assessments for facials. I felt that both treatments went well & was very pleased with myself. I got really good feedback from both clients & I am pleased to say that is me finished my facial block! I look forward to moving on to finish make-up now :)

Code of dress

Above is a picture of me wearing my college uniform.
The proper code of dress for college/salon is - clean tunic & trousers, black closed toe shoes, hair tied back off the face, no jewellery except a wedding band if necessary, clean short nails & light day make- up.

Reception/salon

Today we set ourselves targets for in the salon. Our lecturer also set us targets. Some of the targets I set myself where - gain more confidence answering the phone, become more confident communicating with clients. I am very pleased that I reached my targets as I answered the phone several times & had to deal with clients queries. I really enjoyed working the reception & feel more confident answering the phone & booking clients into the booking system.

Here is my first attempt at a french polish on the toes. I did a normal french polish then added some glitter top coat to add a bit of sparkle. I am very pleased with the end results and so was my client. Here is the before & after glitter pictures.

Facial & make-up

Last monday I did a facial & day make-up. I really enjoyed doing the make-up & I am getting more confident at doing it.

Summative facial assessment

Yesterday we did our first summative facial assessment & I got good feedback from my client & lecturer. After doing 2 more summative assessments on different skin types that will be us finished doing facials & moving on to finish doing make-up.

Pedicures

last week at college we learned more in to detail into doing pedicures & practiced doing a foot massage. I look forward to getting more practice at doing pedicures. I also really enjoyed getting a pedicure to know how it feels & to learn that different people enjoy you using different pressure when getting a foot massage.

Facial Routine

Here is the routine we carry out to do a facial.
1. Consultation – talk about skin type & allergies.
2. Allow client to undress & select products to suit client.
3. Cleanse eyes.

4. Cleanse lips.
5. First cleanse – removes anything on the surface of the skin.

6. Deep cleanse – opens pores.
7. Tone (optional).
8. Apply your mask (setting or non-setting).
9. Tone
10. Moisturise.
First Cleanse

1. Select your product – cover face & neck.
2. Clasp your hands at the base of the neck & unlink as you move up. We do this 3 times.
3. Clasp fingers at the chin drawing fingers up & out. We do this 3 times.
4. Stroke up the face towards the forehead – remember the nose.
5. Use circular movements with the finger tips to cover the face & the neck. We do this 3 times.
Deep Cleanse
1. Stroke up either side of the neck using alternate hands from left to right, we do this 3 times.
2. Apply circular movements over the neck including the chests, we do this 3 times.
3. Using your index finger & middle finger move in circular movements around the chin, we do this 6 times.
4. Apply circular movements from the chin towards the cheek, finish at the temples.
5. Using finger tips stroke the bridge of the nose towards the forehead, we do this 6 times.
6. Wish your ring finger trace around the eyes six times. In a figure of 8 to move to the other side.
7. Apply circles to the forehead, we do this 3 times.
8. Iron/scissor the forehead, we do this 3 times.
9. Fingertips (rain drops) across eye brows. We do this 3 times.
10. Pressure at temples to finish.

Salon

On Monday we got taken to the salon & got shown around. It was good to make yourself familiar with salon & find out whats what & where things are kept. We helped clean up the salon & got shown how to work the computer at reception. We done a roll play & booked each other in, I am now confident that with a wee bit of practice I will soon be able to book clients in. We will be getting a rota put together so on a Monday morning we will be assisting other students set up, clean & work at the reception answer calls & booking clients in.

Tint & waxing

Last week at college we sat & observed an eye lash tint & a leg wax. It was good to see exactly what gets done. We helped set up for both treatments & assistied the level 2's. I am really looking forward to progress to level 2 & learing how to do these treatments.

Facials & make-up

The past 2 weeks at college I have had 3 clients for facials. The treatments went very well & to plan. this has helped me built confidence with working with new clients. After carrying out a mini facial I then did the clients make-up I need to practice a wee bit more doing eye make-up but overall felt the treatments went pretty well.

Day Make-up

In the past few weeks we have been learning how to do day make-up. I am really enjoying doing make-up & look forward to learing more & doing glamour make-up.
